Indication
Berenil is indicated in Babesiosis caused by B. bigemina, B.bovis, B.caballi, B.equi, B.ovis, B.motasi and B.canis.  in Theileriosis, Berenil is suggested only in case of T. annulata, in combination with a suitable antibiotic.
Berenil is well suited for the treatment of Trypanosomiasis caused by T.congolense, T.vivax and T.brucei.  Many investigators have reported successful results for the treatment of T.evansi with the use of Berenil.  Extensive clinical experiennce with Berenil in the treatment of T.evansi in india is being continuously gathered through trials conducted in different parts of the country.

* The dose for all species of animals when infectd with Babesia and Trypanosoma is 0.8-1.6 gm of Berenil granules per 100 kg b.wt.  To prepare solution for injection, add 5 ml of distilled water to every measure spoon (0.8 gm) of Berenil granules.
* For T.brucei infection and in the cases of especially tenacious Trypanosoma strains, a higher dose is indicated(1.6 gm per 100kg b.wt).  However, it is recommended that the total dose should not exceed 9 gm of Berenil granules per animal per day.
* Berenil preotects exposed and susceptible cattle against Babesiosis and Trypanosomiasis for two to three weeks, at the same dosage, as prescribed for the treatment.
* All newly purchased, transported animals especially pregnant cattle needs Berenil protection.
* Berenil has been found effective in the treatment of Trypanosomes resistant to Quinapyramine.

Administration
Berenil is administered preferably by deep intramuscular route although : subcutaneous injections are equally effective.  It should be injected at different sites.
* The prepared solution remains stable at 20o for five days and for 14 days when stored in a cool place.
* The solution must be protected from sunlight and should be stored in sealed glass vessels.
